National Confederation of Small Industry (NACOSI) has urged the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to review the functioning of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (TANSIDCO) and to revamp it for it to play a greater role in industrial development.

In a press release, NACOSI president K.V. Kanakabaram said till recently SIDCO was rendering great help to SSI entrepreneurs and contributed in a big way to the industrial development of the State. In addition, it helped in marketing the products of Small Scale Industries and distributed raw materials to them at a reasonable price. However, of late SIDCO is not functioning as in the past and its activities are restricted mainly to allotment of plots and sheds. With its vast network and branches, SIDCO could play a major role in the further industrial development, he said.

He also called for reviving the SIDCO-TIIC consortium scheme that enabled the entrepreneurs to get land, machinery and finance, all under one roof.
