Hitting out at AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) leader O. Panneerselvam, Law Minister C. Ve. Shanmugam on Tuesday claimed that it was the former Chief Minister who introduced sand mining baron Sekhar Reddy [who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate] to Tamil Nadu.
“Who introduced Sekhar Reddy to Tamil Nadu? It was only when Mr. Panneerselvam was the Finance Minister [and PWD Minister] that Sekhar Reddy was given [government] contracts,” Mr. Shanmugam told mediapersons here.
‘Undue haste’
“Who had shown undue haste in making Mr. Reddy a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams even when the then Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, was in hospital?” he questioned.
Reacting to Mr. Panneerselvam’s call for an inquiry into Mr. Reddy’s diary entries, which allegedly contain names of Ministers on his payroll, he said, “He [Panneerselvam] was seen in a photograph with Sekhar Reddy. Will anyone seek an inquiry into that?”
