Sell helmets along with two-wheelers
The debate on compulsory wearing of helmet is raging across the country after the order of Madras High Court making it mandatory.
There have been several attempts by the authorities to implement this in letter and spirit, which never got the desired results. Authorities must find ways and means to enforce this strictly. To start with, an order should be passed that all two wheeler point of sales (distributors) must sell the vehicles only with helmets. Educating road users on safety is indeed a never-ending process.

Improve airport road
Puducherry's potential to become a buzzing tourist destination has been increasing. Tourists from all over the country aspire to visit this place due to its serenity. But the condition of the Airport Road is precarious and leaves a lot to be desired. The road in itself is very narrow. Platforms on both sides of the road have been encroached by shops. Advertisement boards, makeshift food stalls, and haphazardly parked two wheelers along the stretch make this road risky for pedestrians.
Further, cattle are let to stray and mounds of garbage at several places make this important road an eyesore. Authorities must spruce up this main road by removing the encroachments, considering the road also leads to the new tourist attraction: the planetarium.

Advise private schools not to detain students
Private schools charge high fees for admission to Class XI.
Parents of students who have failed are being forced to spend more than Rs.1 lakh for getting admission to Class XI as they are not allowed to continue in the school. Students who had studied in the Tamil medium till Class X find it difficult to cope in English medium in Class XI as a year is not enough.
Hence detaining in Class XI should be avoided.
They must be given the opportunity to be admitted in Class XII and attend the public exam.
The education department must instruct private schools not to detain students in Class XI.
