Bring MRTS to Puducherry
The World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 to raise global awareness to take positive action to protect nature and planet Earth. To make Puducherry Green and also to arrest climate change, the Puducherry government should introduce a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), a public transportation system for moving passengers using underground or elevated trains.
When automobile users are on the rise, and fossil fuel burning is at its peak, carbon dioxide emission is unabated. It is requested that the government of Puducherry should promote MRTS to reduce global warming.

Introduce daily train to Rameswaram
This is with reference to the letter of Dalaqueen in this column about the non-availability of train service between Puducherry and Cuddalore ( The Hindu , April 27). No new trains were announced to any part of the country in this year’s Railway Budget. However, it is learnt that there is no restriction to time modification or extension of existing trains if it happens within a zone. Since the new time table is likely to take effect in a couple of months, it is an appropriate time to introduce a daily passenger service between Puducherry and Rameswaram via Villupuram, Cuddalore and Chidambaram.
A few months ago, a positive opinion was floated on this subject by former Member (Traffic) of Indian Railways D.P. Pandey.

Initiate treatment feedback system
The Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences Puducherry is rendering yeoman service free of cost. It is a boon to the common man where one of the basic needs of health care is taken care of with first class treatment. Headed by a team of dedicated staff, the higher order students gets hands-on experience treating the large crowd. An academically-linked treatment feedback is a suggestion which can take the institute to greater heights.
