Rape case handed over to CID

May 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - Bengaluru/Mysuru:

The Karnataka government has handed over the investigation into the rape and dowry harassment charges levelled by the daughter of a retired IAS officer against her in-laws to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Commissioner of Mysuru City police B. Dayananda told reporters on Thursday that the State government had issued orders on Wednesday to transfer the case to the CID.

“We will be handing over the investigation to the CID as per the orders of the government,” he said.

To a question, Mr. Dayananda said his predecessor M.A. Saleem had recommended a CID probe into the high-profile case and the government had accepted the recommendation.

The retired bureaucrat’s daughter had alleged that her brother-in-law had raped her when she was eight months pregnant in November 2014.

The case is yet to be handed over to the CID. Bipin Gopalkrishna, DGP, CID told The Hindu that though they had heard of the development, they were yet to receive the file.
