Ranipet CETP chief resigns

R. Amirthakatesan, Managing Director of the Ranipet SIDCO Finished Leather Effluent Treatment Company Limited, which administers the SIDCO Phase-I Common Effluent Treatment Plant in the SIDCO Industrial Estate in Ranipet, has resigned on health grounds on Thursday. This CETP was involved in the accident in which 10 workers of an adjoining tannery drowned in the slurry which gushed out from the secure land fill following the collapse of the wall in the early hours of January 31. Mr. Amirthakatesan, who was arrested along with other CETP officials on February 7, was granted conditional bail by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Vellore on March 23.
