PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Saturday made a controversial statement that he will “cut down those who ask questions (about the PMK’s protest by cutting trees) and lay them across the road”.

He said he will do this if journalists continued to ask him questions about an agitation in which his partymen cut down hundreds of trees and threw them on the roads across the State. Dr. Ramadoss said a reporter from a Kolkata-based English newspaper asked him about party cadre cutting down roadside trees.

“I have answered this question hundreds of times. When he asked me again, I told him that we will cut down people who ask such questions in future protests,” he said.

In a statement, Bharathi Tamil, Joint Secretary of the Chennai Press Club, condemned Dr. Ramadoss’ remark and sought an apology.
