Rally taken out

June 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Ten days ahead of helmets being made mandatory, the district police chose to reach out to two-wheeler riders in a proactive effort on Saturday. Superintendent of Police N. Manivannan flagged off a bike rally taken out by police personnel from the Collectorate. The rally went around important roads and culminated at the Collectorate. Mr. Manivannan appealed to the two wheeler riders to start wearing helmets right away and not wait for July 1 – when wearing of helmets will be enforced.

He said that it should be worn for personal safety and not for the sake of complying to a rule or court order. Over 150 personnel took part.
