A rally to create awareness among the public of female infanticide and against sex selective abortion was held here on Friday.

Collector M. Ravikumar flagged off the rally at Rajaji Park, in which over 150 students from nurses training college participated. The rallyists reached Cruz Fernandez Statue. The participants raised slogans against female infanticide and the radiological investigations being conducted to ascertain the sex of the baby. They said female infanticide, conducting banned investigations and subsequent sex selective abortion would land the doctors and the scan centres in trouble.

Joint Director of Health Services Nallathambi Gnana Thivakaran, paediatrician Shankar Srinivasan, principal of Nurses Training College, Maragatham participated.
