Rain pounds Tiruchengode

October 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - TIRUCHENGODE:

The Tiruchengode town and its surrounding areas experienced sharp showers for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday. Heavy rains lashed the town for more than an hour in the evening.

The downpour led to water logging on Erode Road, Marakkadai area, Velalar colony, Kozhikalanatham Road in the town, affecting free flow of vehicles for a long time.

The continuous rainfall chocked the drains further aggravating the problem. A cross section of the people of the town say that water logging is a perennial problem on these roads and demanded permanent rainwater drainage with immediate effect. This alone will ensure prevention of water logging in the town, they said.

The Salem city, Yercaud, and other parts of the district experienced sharp showers for about an hour on Wednesday evening. The sky remained overcast for a major part of the day.
