Normal life was affected in Nagercoil and other parts of Kanyakumari district due to intermittent rain from Saturday morning.
Cloudy and chill weather prevailed in the district since Friday night.
Roads wore a deserted look, as people preferred to keep indoors in Nagercoil owing to rain.
People travelling in TNSTC buses were put to hardship, as many buses including moffusil buses were leaking from the roof.
Catchment areas of Thirparappu falls received a maximum rainfall of 28.4 mm till 8.30 a.m. on Saturday, according to Water Resources Organisation of Public Works Department.
Rainfall
Rainfall registered in various parts of the district were (in mm): Thirparappu 28.4, Adayamadai 19.3, Boothapandi 11.5, Kozhiporvilai and Vilanginavilai 8 each, Eraniel 7, Anaikkidangu 5.2, Mambazhathuraiyaru 5, Chittar I 4.8, Chittar II 4.2, Colachel 3 and Balamore 2.2.
Water level of dams stood at (total height in bracket): Mambazhathuraiyar Dam 54.12 feet (full level), Perunchani 63.70 feet (77), Pechiparai 34.87 feet (48), Chittar I 13.61 feet (18), Chittar II 13.71 feet (18), Poigai 7.80 feet (42.65), sources in the Water Resources Organisation of PWD said.
