Railways to run Suvidha special trains in August


The Railways will run Suvidha special trains in the Chennai Central – Ernakulam – Chennai Central section via Coimbatore and Erode to meet the rush during next month.

The Suvidha specials will be operated from Chennai Central on August 14 (Friday), and from Ernakulam on August 16, 23 and 30 (Sundays). The Suvidha specials will be run instead of the super fast special trains the Southern Railway had announced on the above days.

The superfast special trains already announced have been cancelled.

The Chennai Central – Ernakulam Express will leave Chennai Central at 10.30 p.m. on August 14, depart from Erode at 4.30 a.m. the next day, Coimbatore at 6.30 a.m. and will reach Ernakulam at 11.15 p.m.

The Ernakulam – Chennai Central Express will leave Ernakulam at 7 p.m. on August 16, 23 and 30, depart from Coimbatore at 11.20 p.m., Erode at 12.55 a.m. next day and will reach Chennai Central at 8.15 a.m.

Suvidha special trains have minimum fare equivalent to tatkal fare and will increase after booking of very 20 per cent seats / berth subject to maximum of three times of tatkal fare. Only confirmed and RAC tickets will be issued in Suvidha trains and no waiting list tickets will be issued.

Advance reservation period is maximum 30 days and minimum ten days.


Fifty per cent fare will be refunded up to six hours before the schedule departure of the train / preparation of chart, in case of cancellation of ticket. In case of cancellation of train itself, full refund will be provided, an official release of Salem Railway division issued here on Thursday said.
