Congress president Rahul Gandhi has hurt the sentiments of not only AIADMK MPs but also Tamils by claiming that the MPs’ protest in Parliament over the Mekedatu issue was being used by the BJP to divert attention away from the Rafale controversy, AIADMK legislator V.P.B. Paramasivam (Vedasandur) told the Assembly on Monday.

During a debate on the motion of thanks for the Governor’s address to the House, Mr. Paramasivam hailed the AIADMK MPs for stalling Parliamentary proceedings over the issue of the Central Water Commission granting permission to Karnataka for preparing a Detailed Project Report to build a dam across the Cauvery at Mekedatu.

He urged the State government to sanction funds for roads in forest areas.

He also lauded the leadership of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami in relation to cyclone relief measures in affected districts.
