Pushkaram in Tamirabharani after 144 years

The State government on Monday reviewed the arrangements to be made for conducting Pushkaram on the banks of the Tamirabharani in Tirunelveli district in October this year “after a gap of 144 years”.

The meeting, chaired by Textiles Minister O.S. Manian here, also reviewed suggestions received from various quarters in this regard. Pushkaram is a celebration of 12 major rivers across the country.

Arrangements such as roads, street lighting, bus and parking facilities for the Pushkaram in Tamirabharani were discussed at the meeting. Information Minister Kadambur Raju, Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister V.M. Rajalakshmi and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Sevoor S. Ramachandran were also present.
