What are the various schemes implemented by the Union Government? What are the career avenues in cost and management education? What are the courses available to the visually challenged? These are some of the various questions which found answers in the 3-day Public Information Campaign organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and other wings of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India here from October 6 to 8.
Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal inaugurated the campaign on Tuesday in the presence of Vellore Mayor P. Karthiyayini.
The Collector said that the distribution of laptops to students is one of the useful flagship schemes implemented by the Tamil Nadu Government. M. Manohar Singh, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency said that the Indira Awas Yojana (group houses scheme) and the Prime Minister’s Gramin Sadak Yojana (roads development scheme) are being implemented with 75% central funds and 25% state government funds.
C.C. Kasimani, Faculty Head, Executive Secretaryship, National Institute for Visually Handicapped, Poonamalle, said that executive secretaryship course, office secretaryship and front office management course, and a call centre and computer applications course were among the courses conducted in the institute.
A. Sivakumar, Executive Officer, Ranipet-Vellore Chapter of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India explained the job opportunities available for those undergoing the courses conducted by the ICAI. Cost and Management Accountants are sought after for financial leadership positions in major enterprises, he said. K. Muthukumar, Additional Director General of PIB, Chennai, explained the objective of the PIC. M. Ravikumar, Assistant Director, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, Chennai, welcomed the gathering. Thenappan, Media and Communication Officer, PIB, proposed a vote of thanks. T. Sivakumar, Assistant Director of Field Publicity, Puducherry, compered the proceedings.
The exhibition organised at Saradambal Srinivasa Mudaliar Kalyana Mandapam in Anna Road contained pictorial exhibits by the DAVP on the Swachh Bharat Mission, ‘Make in India’ movement, and ‘Transport for Change and Development’. The exhibition would be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. till October 8.
