Residents of Velu Nagar in Ward 59 on Tuesday came to the corporation office to surrender their ration card and Elector’s Photo Identity Card stating that no facility has been provided to them.

They said that sewage water stagnates on the road frequently. During rainy season, rain water gets mix up with sewage and enters houses. Residents said that other streets in the ward were provided all facilities. The police told them that only two persons will be allowed to meet Mayor S. Soundappan to submit the petition.

The residents insisted that all of them should be allowed to meet the Mayor, and staged a sit-in protest. Later, five were allowed to meet the Mayor.
