Prohibition raids, 43 held

Forty-seven cases were booked and 43 persons comprising 32 men and 11 women arrested during special prohibition raids carried out in different parts of Vellore district for three days from May 8 to 10.

According to a release from the Superintendent of Police, Vellore district, 98 Karnataka State liquor bottles, 1954 litres of illicitly distilled arrack, 2900 litres of fermented wash and three litres of toddy were seized and destroyed during the raids. A motorcycle and a car used for transport of the contraband were seized.
