Supporters of Anna Hazare stage a protest in Chennai on Wednesday.

Continuing their support to social activist Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption campaign, a large number of people observed fast in Chennai on Thursday.

More than 150 people assembled at Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur in Chennai under the banner of “India Against Corruption”, an umbrella body of the citizen’s movement fighting for a powerful Lokpal Bill, and sat on a fast since 8am.

The protesters were carrying banners saying “Say no to corruption and yes to Jan Lok Pal”.

In Coimbatore, 1,500 lawyers boycotted proceedings in the district courts condemning the Union government and the Delhi Police.

The decision to stay way from the legal proceedings was taken at an emergency general body meeting of Coimbatore Bar Association on Wednesday, to express solidarity with Mr. Hazare, association sources said.

However, no demonstration or procession was held, they said.
