Collector M. Karunakaran handed over power tillers to nine farmers at subsidised cost under the National Agriculture Development Programme here on Tuesday.

Dr. Karunakaran said the farmers were being given quality seeds, agro inputs including fertilizers at the right price and farm implements at a subsidised cost with the objective of increasing agricultural productivity.

Under the National Agriculture Development Programme, nine farmers – six from Nanguneri union, two from Maanur union and one from Palayamkottai union – were given power tillers, each carrying a subsidy of Rs. 60,000.

“Farmers should make use of these assistances to increase agricultural productivity,” the Collector said.

District Revenue Officer M.G. Kulandaivel, Joint Director of Agriculture (In-charge) Perumal among others were present on the occasion.
