Unidentified persons tore down most of the posters put up by the AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) faction, hailing party leader and former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, across Thanjavur town on Monday night. Mr. Panneerselvam is scheduled to visit Thanjavur on Wednesday.

His followers had pasted wall posters at several places including the Old Bus Stand, New Bus Stand, Junction, Gandhiji Salai and Medical College Road announcing a mega meeting on Wednesday in which the faction claimed that more than 15,000 people were supposed to join the ‘Dharma Yudh’ being waged against those who went against the tenets of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. In some posters, only Mr. Panneerselvam’s photo was defaced while the image of Jayalalithaa was untouched. Meanwhile, former Mayor Savithri Gopal led a demonstration near the Junction area, condemning the removal of wall posters and demanding action against those responsible for the act.
