: The district police have narrowed down on the mischief-monger who had uploaded a communally provocative poster in a social messaging platform earlier this week.
Superintendent of Police M.R. Sibi Chakravarthy said the main accused was identified following interrogation of a city-based printing press owner Senthil Kumar (43) who had designed the poster fulfilling an order. While Senthil Kumar has been arrested and remanded in custody, his customer was on the run, the SP said.
The printing press that Senthil Kumar owned along Mettur Road was one of the 273 units that came under police scrutiny on the day of the crime. But, the proprietor had concealed the facts. To make prompt headway, the district police had taken the support of the State Cyber Crime Cell for investigation.
Subsequently, acting on specific inputs, the local police zeroed in on Senthil Kumar again, carried out intense interrogation, and extracted the truth that he had by himself designed the picture that his customer had uploaded on the web.
The print out was, in fact, taken out in an A4-size sheet and pasted on a wall to look like a poster when photographed in close range. The printout was photographed with a high-end mobile phone, uploaded in the web, and destroyed later, the SP said.
