Police arrest 16 persons of caste outfit

The day Yuvaraj surrendered, police picked up 14 members of the Dheeran Chinnamalai Gounder Peravai at the railway station area in Sankagiri town when they attempted to proceed to Namakkal in the morning.

They were led by Kandasamy, state general secretary of the Peravai.

The police picked up two more members of the Peravai, when they attempted to enter the Dheeran Chinnamalai Memorial in Sankagiri. The police intercepted and arrested them.

Police is having a close watch in Sankagiri town and surrounding areas and the police pickets are being continued.

Tight security was on at Namakkal as well, a senior official said.
