The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) will campaign against cash-for-votes during the Lok Sabha elections, according to S. Ramadoss, party founder.
Addressing the party’s youth and women’s wings here on Monday, Dr. Ramadoss said the party would distribute head bands with the slogan ‘My vote is not for sale’ to the cadre who would go to the voters, appealing to them to be firm that their votes were not for sale. Posters would also be put up with similar message.
Asked why the party was embarking on this campaign, Dr. Ramadoss pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party performed well and got a good number of seats in the Delhi Assembly election without buying voters.
The PMK fought for the implementation of the Rs. 1928-crore Hogenakkal Drinking Water and Fluorosis Mitigation Project and the Samacheer Kalvi through courts.
Dr. Ramadoss held the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam responsible for making the youth in the State addicted to liquor by continuing with the State-owned TASMAC outlets.
He also claimed that the PMK candidate from Krishnagiri for the coming Lok Sabha elections and party president G.K. Mani was accepted as common candidate by people belonging to all communities. Those in the DMK and the AIADMK too found him acceptable as a person who could safeguard the backward class community.
