Plea to stop illegal construction

June 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) has demanded the district administration to immediately stop illegal construction activities at Arachar in Parvathipuram and pursue the case being heard at the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court.

The party also urged the authorities to evict encroachments at Madhavalayam Karungalam in Kanyakumari district. The other demands are: withdrawal of cases against CPI (ML) leaders; allowing students of linguistic minorities to pursue education in their mother tongue (Malayalam); and replacing old and worn-out buses. The cadres submitted petitions to the Collector and staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate on Monday. The demonstration was presided over by S.M. Anthony Muthu, district secretary.
