Plea to re-lay road

June 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - Tirupur:

Residents of Nanjaithamraikulam, under Vadukapalayam village panchayat, are in a dilemma as the arterial earthen road that connects the hamlet with the nearby areas have been dug up and not restored to original condition.

On Monday, they submitted a petition to Collector G. Govindaraj seeking the intervention of the administration to set right the road.

According to the petitioners, the road surface has been damaged by some anti-social elements. S. Palanisamy, a resident of the hamlet who runs a powerloom unit in the area, told The Hindu that due to the bad condition of the road, the residents have to walk many kms to reach other areas. When contacted, A. Parameswari, the president of Vadukapalayam village panchayat, said the administration had passed a resolution to lay black top surface in the place of earthen road.
