Plea for driving licence

May 31, 2011 01:22 am | Updated 01:22 am IST - RAMANATHAPURAM:

A physically challenged person came to the Collectorate here on Monday demanding license for driving autorickshaw.

M.M.A. Syed Razaak (27) of Erwadi was accompanied by his wife and children. Mr. Razaak, who was helped by his wife to climb the steps of the Collectorate, presented a petition to Collector T.N. Hariharan. He stated in the petition that though there was no problem for him in driving autorickshaw despite his legs affected owing to a polio attack when he was a child, he was denied a driving license. If he could get the license, he could take up the vocation and with the earnings look after the family.

Mr. Hariharan, who asked him to show his legs to see the severity of the problem, told him that if the percentage of affected portion of the body was more it could not be possible for the officials to help his cause. However, he promised that he could avail other assistances eligible for him.
