The Dalit Liberation Movement has submitted petitions to District Collector, Chief Educational Officer, and Secretary to the Education Department seeking action against a senior Education Department official in the district for discriminations shown to Dalit students, and teachers.

S. Karuppaiah, State joint general secretary of the organisation, said that an agitation will be held in front of the office of the CEO on May 28 if no action was taken against the official.

According to the petitioners, the official did not take steps to distribute textbooks on time to Dalits students.

He used to behave indifferently with regard to matters concerning Dalit teachers, the petition said.
