Petition against former Dindigul SP

October 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:36 am IST - Dindigul:

A former home guard demanded action against former Dindigul Superintendent of Police R. Dinakaran and commanders of home guard who sacked 129 home guards in 2009, during a petition mela held by the police here on Sunday.

In his petition, Rajendran (38) of Mettupatti, who had been working as home guard since 1998, complained that Mr. Dinakaran, Home Guard Commander Shyamala and Company Commander Sivakumar sacked 129 home guard personnel, including him, without giving any valid reason in 2009.

He appealed to the authorities to take action against the three.

Town DSP Sigamani, who received the petition, recommended it for further investigation.

Mr. Rajendran told him that the former SP sacked 129 persons in 2009, but no order had been served to sacked home guards till now. So the dismissed home guard personnel did not hand over the uniform, he said.

60 petitions

cleared

About 60 petitions were settled in the petition mela. The police conducted the mela in order to clear long-pending cases relating to financial transaction, family and property disputes with Dindigul North, South and West police stations.

More than 100 petitions were taken up for clearance. Prior intimation was given to all petitioners as well as the respondents, said the police.
