People want change: Stalin

DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Wednesday said people were in the mood for change as “the AIADMK Government has been a non-functional one all these years”.

During the Namakku Naame Vidiyal Meetpu pre-election campaign tour at Sankarapuram, Mr. Stalin alleged that the Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs or elected representatives have not been functioning for four and half years of AIADMK regime. “People are in the mood for a change of regime,” he said.

Interacting with public, he promised that if his party comes to power, people can contact him through social media networks and telephone. “If DMK comes to power, all graduates will be given jobs. The government will function without any corruption,” he added. He said DMK recognised unemployment as a pressing issue in the State and promised them that employment exchanges would be revamped during DMK rule.

In Villupuram district, he visited an Uzhavar Sandhai (farmers’ market) and heard complaints of farmers who said that markets were completely neglected during the AIADMK period. They said that if Uzhavar Sandhais were maintained properly, they would provide farmers an opportunity to sell their produce directly to consumers for a remunerative price.

Mr. Stalin met the families of the woodcutters who were killed in Seshachalam village last year. Later he said they complained that many of their family members have been still in jail in Andhra Pradesh and all their jewellery has been pawned.
