May 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - DINDIGUL:

Dindigul district has registered a marginal dip in pass percentage when compared to the results in the previous academic year.

Pass percentage in Dindigul was 90.22 this year which was 90.91 per cent in 2014.

Of the total 22,495 students, 20,294 students in 175 schools had cleared the exams this year.

Many government schools that performed well last year did not perform well this year, resulting in a major slump in pass percentage. Last year, the result was excellent in several government schools owing to collective action of headmasters, teachers and students. Only one government school — at V. Koothampatti — has achieved 100 per cent results this year. However, more than 10 government schools have achieved more than 90 per cent. Several aided and matriculation schools achieved 100 per cent results.

Only one student got centum in physics, six in chemistry, six in biology, three in botany, one each in zoology and statistics, five in computer science, 123 in mathematics, four in history, five in economics and six in commerce and 55 in accountancy and one in business maths in the district.
