The Southern Railway will operate special trains in the newly converted Palani–Pollachi broad gauge section from Friday (January 9).
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, Palani–Pollachi Express Special (Train no.02651) will leave Palani at 07.45 a.m. and reach Pollachi at 09.10 a.m. It will stop only at Udumalpet.
Palani–Pollachi Passenger Special (Train no.06710) will leave Palani at 10.50 a.m. and reach Pollachi at 12.25 p.m. It will stop at Pushpattur, Madathukulam Halt, Maivadi Road, Udumalpet and Gomangalam.
Palani–Pollachi Passenger Special (Train no.06770) will leave Palani at 7.25 p.m. and reach Pollachi at 8.50 p.m. This will also stop at the above mentioned stations.
On the return journey Pollachi-Palani Passenger Special (Train no.06769) will leave Pollachi at 06.15 a.m. and reach Palani at 07.40 a.m. This will stop at Gomangalam, Udumalpet, Maivadi Road, Madathukulam Halt and Pushpattur.
Pollachi-Palani Passenger Special (Train No.06709) will leave Pollachi at 3.15 p.m. and reach Palani at 4.55 p.m. This will also stop at all the above mentioned stations. Pollachi-Palani Express Special (Train No.02652) will leave Pollachi at 4.45 p.m. and reach Palani at 6.10 p.m. This will stop only at Udumalpet.
The ticket counter at Udumalpet station will have both unreserved ticketing and Advanced Passenger Reservation facilities.
The Dindigul-Palghat section was closed for gauge conversion on May 26, 2009.
The work was taken up immediately at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore. After completion of the work, speed trial run was conducted in the presence of Commissioner for Rail Safety S.K. Mittal in December 2014.
Trains cancelled
In view of running of special trains in Palani–Pollachi section, Southern Railway has cancelled the following passenger trains running between Palani and Dindigul from Friday: Train Nos. 56771 and 56773 leaving Palani at 09.15 a.m. and at 11.15 a.m. respectively and Train Nos. 56774 and 56776 leaving Dindigul at 3.15 p.m. and 16.20 p.m. respectively.
Change in time
Tiruchendur–Palani Passenger (Train No.56770) will arrive at Palani at 7.20 p.m. instead of 7.25 p.m. from Friday.
