Painter killed in road accident

A painter was fatally knocked down by a speeding car belonging to the Aruppukottai MLA near here on Thursday.

Police said P. Senthil (38), the painter from Nambipuram near Ettaiyapuram, was knocked down by the car at Duraisamypuram intersection when he was going for work. During investigation, the police found that the car belonged to former Minister and Aruppukottai MLA Vaigai Selvan, who was reportedly not travelling in the car when the accident occurred.

“When the MLA’s personal assistant Velmurugan and driver Gopal were returning from Tiruchendur to Aruppukottai, the accident took place,” the police said

Relatives of the deceased staged protest in front of the Ettaiyapuram Government Hospital for a while.
