Over 22,000 new electors enrolled

As many as 22,519 new electors were enrolled in the electoral rolls during the camp held between March 2 and June 30.

As part of National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP), that ensures error-free and authentic electoral rolls, camp begun on March 2 and concluded on June 30. Special camps were also held on April 12, 26, May 10 and 24 in all the polling stations across the district. Also, door-to-door campaign was also carried out so that correction of errors in the rolls, improving the quality of image, and new enrolment were carried out. Form 6 for name inclusion in electoral rolls was received from 22,737 persons and after scrutiny, 22,519 electors’ name were included in the rolls. A total of 5,250 electors submitted Form 7 for name deletion and 4,598 electors’ names were deleted, 21,940 submitted Form 8 for corrections and 4,267 submitted forms for change of Assembly constituencies. Hence, of the total 54,194 applications received, 53,219 were accepted.

Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy said that the above details were available at the offices of Tahsildar, Municipal Commissioner, Revenue Divisional Officer and at the Collectorate. Electors can visit these offices to know the action taken on their forms.
