Organs harvested

Sujatha (37), w/o Ilangovan of Melpatti in Gudiyatham taluk who sustained a head injury in a road accident in Pachakuppam near Ambur on January 22, and was declared brain dead by doctors at the Christian Medical College Hospital here on Saturday. Her organs were harvested and allotted to various hospitals.

Sujatha was travelling with her husband on a two-wheeler when sustained a head injury when she fell down from the vehicle when the tyre burst on the over-bridge at Pachakuppam. She was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Ambur and shifted on Friday to the CMC Hospital where she was declared brain dead on Saturday.

Heart valves were sent to the Madras Medical Mission Hospital, Chennai, liver to the Global Hospital, Chennai and kidneys to the MIOT Hospital, Chennai, while the eyes were allotted to the CMC Schell Eye Hospital, Vellore.
