To mark the 227th birth anniversary of John Sullivan, the founder of modern Nilgiris, the Nilgiri Documentation Centre will organise a one-day ‘Sullivan Tour’ on June 15.
A release from Dharmalingam Venugopal of the Nilgiris Documentation Centre said that the tour will cover the various houses Sullivan built from 1823 till 1841 when he left for England. Sullivan Tour will also cover the landmarks and buildings associated with the contribution of Sullivan to the Nilgiris. The purpose of the tour is to create awareness about how Ooty, the Queen of Hills Stations, evolved and the present state of neglect and ignorance regarding the history and heritage of Ootacamund.
The Sullivan Tour will start at 10 am at St. Stephen’s Church and can accommodate 20 persons. Registration will be on first come first served basis. For details: 9444365360.
