Senior district level officials of the Health Department inspected the herbal garden developed and maintained by the Sidha wing at the Government Hospital, Mettur, recently.

Hill stations

More than 60 herbs procured from different hill stations have been raised in the garden. The details of herbs too have been displayed for the benefit of the patients.

N. Vijayalakshmi, Joint Director of Health, and V. Arunmozhi, District Sidha Medical Officer, who inspected the Mettur Government Hospital, visited the herbal garden too.

R. Adhimoolam, Medical Superintendent, Mettur GH and S. Jayakumar, Assistant Sidha Medical Officer, Mettur GH, explained the details of the herbs and their utility value.

According to Dr. Jayakumar, the herbal garden is to create awareness among the common people on herbs used extensively in the preparation of traditional Indian system medicines.

The garden has been attracting good number of patients and their relatives visiting the GH, he said.
