Noted singer Aruna Sairam felicitated

Noted singer Aruna Sairam was honoured with the Developers India’s Vibrant Indian Award at an interfaith celebration at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture on Thursday.

Minister for Tamil Language and Culture K. Pandiarajan handed over the award to Ms. Sairam.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Pandiarajan called for creation of common spaces to discuss common ideas, so as to promote inter-religious harmony.

The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali said that religion was a personal business and once people stepped out on the streets, they were Indians.

The Prince of Arcot also said that religion and politics should be kept separately.
