The city police have permitted the installation of over 2,500 Vinayaka idols across the city.

After perusing the applications, the city police, as per the guidelines of the State government and recent directions of the Madras High Court, permitted various outfits to install over 2,500 idols.

Imposing strict conditions, the police said the height should not exceed 10 feet, including the base and dais.

The organisers should ensure that no illegal activities take place under the pretence of worship, including unauthorised electricity tapping. Flex boards supporting political parties or communal leaders should not be erected.
