Nod for fisheries institute

The State government on Friday granted administrative sanction for setting up an Institute of Technology for Fish Development at Ponneri in Tiruvallur district.

According to an official release, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa gave the sanction for the institute to be established at a cost of Rs.34.08 crore. She also released Rs.7 crore for preliminary work and ordered allotment of land.

The Institute would train students in prawn culture and ornamental fish development and related subjects.
