‘No scope for compromise with Telangana govt.’

June 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - NEW DELHI/ HYDERABAD:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday to make a personal representation on the phone-tapping issue, told a news conference there was no scope for any compromise with the Telangana government and he expected the Centre to play the role of a mediator.

He said for the last one year he had done his best to resolve all issues with Telangana in spirit of co-operation. “Now why should I compromise,” he asked.

He alleged that the Telangana government was targeting his government functionaries and Telugu Desam leaders and cited the alleged tapping of their phones. “Who has given him [Telangana Chief Minister] powers to tap the phones of a duly elected government”? he asked.

Seeking a Central probe into the alleged phone tapping Mr. Naidu demanded that the Centre should ensure that the `illegal’’ tapping equipment with the Telangana government be immediately confiscated.
