No precondition for alliance, says Stalin

MK treasurer M K Stalin has made it clear that the party is ready for forging an alliance based on mutual and friendly terms without any conditions.

“People are aspiring for a change as the AIADMK government had failed on all fronts. They feel that only the DMK can usher in a change. Political parties with mutual understanding can work together with brotherly feelings. There are no preconditions,” he told The Hindu on Saturday.

Asked about the prospects of the DMK forging ties with Vijayakant’s DMDK, Mr. Stalin did not commit himself, contending that “elections are still away.”

Stalin says the DMK will ensure a govt without corruption, ‘collection’ and commission.

Questioned if the DMK would be able to defeat the ruling party sans a strong alliance considering the AIADMK’s massive victory in the last year’s Lok Sabha elections, he said in the past the DMK had romped home irrespective of the strength of the other party.

‘No element of drama in campaign’

Mr. Stalin rejected the suggestion that there was an element of “drama” in his Namakku Naame programme, saying political parties that could not digest his popularity had indulged in such a campaign.

“I have been telling people that we will ensure a government without corruption, ‘collection’ and commission,” he said. If elected, the first signature of the party’s Chief Minister-elect would be for the implementation of prohibition in Tamil Nadu.

According to him, the party would provide efficient administration without giving any room for irregularities.

“The DMK had always fulfilled what it had promised. Have faith in us and do not doubt our ability. We will offer a transparent administration,” Mr. Stalin contended.
