Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan has said that there was no need for disrespectful comments in public discourse. “There is no need for anybody to disrespect anybody,” he said here on Friday while responding to a question on MLA Karunas’ rant against the ruling establishment.

Actor-turned politician Karunas had allegedly issued death threats to the Chief Minister and a police officer while addressing party cadre in Chennai on Monday last.

Mr. Haasan said that he had not heard what Mr. Karunas had spoken and therefore it would not be correct to comment further on the issue.

He was leaving for Chennai after completing his two-day programme in Coimbatore and Tirupur.
