NLC observes Gandhi Jayanthi

The 146{+t}{+h}birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed at Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) on Friday.

Sarat Kumar Acharya, the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NLC garlanded the bust of Mahatma Gandhi installed in front of the NLC township’s administrative office.

Mr. Acharya urged the employees to follow the values and principles of the Mahatma and rededicate them for the development of the nation. The Central Government’s vision of Swacch Bharat and Make in India are based on the principles of the Mahatma and are relevant to the society.

He also appealed to the employees to work towards a common vision for growth of the organisation. NLC Directors Rakesh Kumar and Boopathy also participated and distributed kits containing educational aids to schoolchildren.

Gandhi Jayanthi was also observed at the B.R. Ambedkar administrative building in Pondicherry University. Prof. Anisa Basheer Khan Vice-chancellor (in charge) garlanded the statue of the Mahatma and paid floral tributes.

J. Sampath, Registrar (in-charge), Deans and Heads of Departments, faculties and students also participated in the event.

Ms. Anisa Basheer Khan also distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions .
