Newborn presumed dead comes alive in Dindigul

Relatives wrapped the baby in a cloth bag after staff said it may not live long.

A new born girl baby presumed ‘dead’ was seen moving suddenly while being taken home and was rushed back to the Dindigul GH for treatment

Maria Vinitha (24), wife of Kulanthai Raj, a daily wage earner and resident of East Marianathapuram near here had given birth to the girl baby weighing 700 grams on Wednesday.

The doctors had directed the paramedical team to keep the baby under observation in the neo-natal ward. Some hospital staff had informed the relatives of Kulanthairaj that the child was weak and might not live long. So, the relatives had wrapped the baby in a cloth bag and taken it home. .

On the way, some movement was seen on the baby and the relatives rushed it back to the hospital seeking immediate medical attention. After cautioning the family and the mother, the doctors readmitted the baby which was under medical observation now.
