The Thoothukudi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (THUDITTSSIA) has welcomed the State government’s initiative to bring all large-scale industries under one roof for obtaining licences and other mandatory clearances from various allied departments.

It’s vice-president and joint secretary of Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA), K. Nehruprakash, said here on Monday that the government had deputed a special officer to cater to the needs of industrialists, who could obtain licence and clearances from the departments of Industrial Safety and Health, Factory, Labour, Pollution Control Board, Local Planning Authority, Fire and Rescue Services under one roof.

Citing these positive factors, he sought similar benefits for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) also.

If the new initiative was applicable to the MSME sector also, it would attract a large number of new entrepreneurs and also open up possibilities for more industrial developments.

Subsequently, the industrial economy would get a boost and create employments opportunities for many, Mr. Nehruprakash said.

Once, the entrepreneurs ventured into the field of industrial production, it would be sufficient for them to pay back loans to bankers. He hoped such a new initiative could also contribute much to the ‘Make in India’ campaign. He said around 2, 500 micro, small and medium enterprises had been functioning across the district.
