Nagapattinam sees 8 p.c. jump

The district has registered a sharp increase of about 8 per cent in the pass percentage in the SSLC examinations. While 81 per cent of the students had passed the exam last year, the pass percentage was 89.27 this year. In all, 24,047 candidates, 11,684 boys and 12,363 girls appeared for the public examination. Of them 21,467 students including 9,980 boys and 11,487 girls emerged successful. B. Akshaya and B. Kanagadurga both from Vivekananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Sirkali secured the district first rank with 498 marks.

N. Suwamiya of Guru Gnana MHSS Mayiladuthurai with 497 marks got the district second rank.

The following nine students who secured 496 marks got the third rank: D. Binthiya and M. Madhubala both from Vivekananda MHSS, Sirkali; R. Gokul and S. Tamilosai, both from S.M.Hindu HSS, Sirkali; S. Kanimozhi from Nivedha MHSS, Poraiyar; M. Mohanapriya, DBTR National HSS, Mayiladuthurai; S. Sowbhagya, Dr. G.S. Kalyanasundaram MHSS, Pazhaiya Gudalur, T. Tamizhkodi, St. Antony’s MHSS, Vedaranyam, and P. Vishnubalan, J. Jeya MHSS, Nagapattinam. Collector S. Palanisamy said that 80 students, including 26 government schools, registered cent per cent pass percentage.
