To create awareness among the youth on the need to vote without being influenced by money of gift, members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) conducted a campaign ‘My vote is not for sale’ here on Wednesday.

Led by its North Urban City president B. Satheeshkumar, members took out a rally from Four Road to New Bus Stand with placards and raising slogans. They said that money and gift continue to influence electors in every election in the State and called upon the youth to desist from such practices. “Buying our democratic right is against democracy and is treason against the country. Don’t give chance to politicians who are ready to purchase our votes”, they added. Members said that to protect democracy from money and muscle power and from politicians, electors should case their votes to the candidate of his choice without getting money.

Members said that exercising ones democratic right by voting will pave way for strengthening and development of the society. But, when administration is in the wrong hands, no developmental activity will take place, they added.
