The Muttal lake in Kallanatham village, near Attur, one of the major water body in the district, is over flowing because of the continuous rainfall experienced in the last few days.

The lake was wearing a dry look till a few days.

Irrigation

The water from the lake provided is used to irrigate about 120 hectares in Amampalayam, Kallanatham, and Thulukkanur villages for many years.

Besides, it is the source of drinking water needs of these villages.

The filling up of the lake has brought much cheer to the entire farming community. The local people have been making a beeline to have a glimpse of the lake brimming to its capacity. Some of the local people offered worship to thank the Rain God.

There has been a steady increase in the inflow of water to the Puzhuti Kuittai Aanaimaduvu dam near Vazhappadi. This has brought delight to the coconut farmers of the area.
