The Crime Branch CID police on Tuesday has detected a murder for gain case reported in Katpadi (Vellore district) in 2003.
According to a press release, G. Susheela of Tiruvallur Nagar was found dead in her house with multiple stab injuries on February 26, 2003. A gold chain and four bangles weighing about 15 sovereigns were found missing from the scene of crime. The Katpadi police closed the case as “undetected” in 2006.
However, the victim's husband Ganesan approached the Madras High Court and obtained orders transferring the case to the CBCID for further investigation.
A special team formed to investigate the case found that a person owning a cyber café was involved in the murder.
During enquiry, the team found that L. Nithyanandam (32) who owns a cyber café committed the murder along with his friend Baskar. The latter died in February 2006. Police arrested Nithyanandam and recovered a portion of a missing property.
Susheela used to visit the cyber café owned by Nithyanandam to send emails to her son living abroad.
The two accused persons conspired and committed the robbery.
They went to the woman's house on February 26, 2003 and murdered her.
