In the wake of an accident involving a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus plying to Hogenakkal a few days ago, R. Sakthivel, Superintendent of Police, ordered monitoring the movement of heavy vehicles on ghat roads.

The SP directed the personnel of the district police to check vehicles on ghat roads leading to the hill station of Yercaud and Karumanthurai for over-speeding, over-loading and transporting people.

The police have been asked to book all the vehicles which ply in violation of road rules.

Following the orders of SP, police personnel were posted on ghat roads to check the vehicles.

Meanwhile, the TNSTC authorities have also directed its crew to strictly adhere to speed limits while proceeding on ghat roads to prevent the recurrence of fatal accidents.
